The Institute
Welcome to the website of the Institute of Linguistics and Communication Studies at RWTH Aachen University - ISK for short.
We are a dynamic, interdisciplinary institute that applies expertise from linguistics and communication science to issues in society, business, and engineering.
Research covers a broad portfolio of topics such as language criticism and public discourse, electronic media and technology communication, technology perception and human-computer interaction, and language and communication in education and work.
The Institute oversees the programs in Linguistics and Communication Studies B.A., Digital Media Communication M.A., and Technology Communication B.Sc./M.Sc., and is involved in the German Teacher Training Program B.A./M.Ed.
The Institute has two locations:
The chairs of Contemporary German Language and German Linguistics are located in Eilfschornsteinstraße on the Mitte Campus, not far from the Super C.
The chairs of Communication Science and Text Linguistics can be found on the Melaten Campus. Due to the location on the campus boulevard, they are not far from the University Hospital.
